Current mood: annoyed

Having read and browsed through the ljstaff statement
I now believe that they are doing a brilliant job. This is no sarcasm, I mean it.

At the moment they are teaching everybody the lesson of how to get rid of unwanted customers. And by homing in on one of the largest fandoms on lj, they make certain many people are angered.

By not replying for a week and then playing the gammut of only oozing murky "statements" to not addressing valid points in question, they sorely tempt the patience of said customers which will in the end leave. LiveJournal is then cleanslated for prospective buyers or conservative businesses. The staff at lj know they will succeed they certainly know communities like fandom_flies or fandomtossed.

Not only will the ljstaff in general and burr86 in particular not get slapped on the wrist, they will likely be commended for doing the company's bidding.

I am frankly boggled why 6A doesn't just sell LJ off. They have Vox, a more efficient moneymaking machine -- every time you link to a book they get profits from Amazon.com! -- and clearly they don't want a large mostly female mostly enthusiast community.

I believe that is what they are trying to do...and that's why they are cleaning up. Hitting on HP is the perfect vehicle.

I've read that they may be planning an IPO and want to include LiveJournal and its millions of individual users (who are of course no such thing, as so many of us have multiple journals under multiple names and only use some of them for very specific purposes). Sigh.

I'm afraid to say, but it all comes together quite nicely.Milions of users plus a clean slate...

I recently read several stats (probably from the comments to the Fitzpatrick article)which show that though there are a theoretical 30+million of users, only about two million are active. A large number of those will be fans, I think.

I was going to reply to your other comment in my journal about GJ and icons (the issue seems to be how often you sign in, not how many you have) but IJ seems to have eaten your comment. Sigh.

*keeps money*

So I cannot make more than a thousand posts and after that my free account is no longer free?
*is confushed*

but IJ seems to have eaten your comment.
*sighs too* Believe me, I didn't delete it.

You're probably not interested, but I caved in an have started to write my first rps in nearly two years. No guesses as to the pairing.

And NOW I can see this, after replying to another comment because I couldn't see it before. Sigh. IJ needs to GET ACT TOGETHER.

IJ is now eating comments wholesale...your last was e-mailed to me but does not appear here.

I think the issue is that if you don't sign in within 21 days, GJ deletes your icons. Until very recently I did not sign in regularly, so I kept very few icons there. I have over 3000 posts over five years archived there so it can't matter how many posts!

They do indeed. :D

I think the issue is that if you don't sign in within 21 days, GJ deletes your icons Ah! Well, then I can upload my "Russell the sheep" icon again, because I intend to update my journals whenever I can.

RPS: Crowe/Doyle? Crowe/one of his rugby boys? *veg*
So not.*snorts* I am a very conservative person. I know you've gone off Mr.B but he and RC are my OTP. LOL

*snickers* I've nothing against Paul, I just don't think fictional!Russell is very monogamous given how many other men he declares love for. *g*
