    City Of Hills is an aim and thread friendly PB/city based community set in San Francisco, California.

    Writers of this community are promised to have control over their story lines. As long as things are kept realistic, the mod(s) will not worry about how much of whatever is going around; especially considering this is a city wide based game. If things get out of hand, the game will address the issue(s) as a whole then. Members of this community have a voice with us and their opinions and suggestions are always validated and taken into high consideration. We also will provide a lot of interactive opportunities for characters. All play by (PB) types welcome.

    "Interaction vs Omniscience"

    Neutral Ground is a role-playing safe haven for those of us who remembered that like ourselves, no one will know our characters from just looking at us. There are no bios required. There aren't even first posts required. You play your character as you see fit, you use your characters blog as you see fit. You play any storyline you want to play or you use your journal and this game as a basis for inspiration for your fan fictions. It doesn't matter. Here at NeutralGround, we value interaction as opposed to omniscience meaning, we want your characters to get to know one another as you get to know them...we don't require you to know everything. So give it a shot! And best of all, it's the easiest application process ever.

    Genres allowed: Fandom, AU, PB, Fantasy, Original.

    Alternate title, "Warning that I'm going to be very cynical for this one."

    Men: Sergei, Brian, Tomas. Only two non-Russian men have ever won this event, one of them was Johnny, and the other was Brian in his unbeatable year. This is not his unbeatable year, and they can push Sergei past him here, and with no certainty of Plushenko's return they want a win for him. Meanwhile they will not want Jeremy medaling; the last thing they want is another American man mixing himself into the top. He's going to try the quad, and I suspect he won't be clean; that'll be enough.

    Ladies: On the other hand, Russia's neutral ice for ladies, so I'm going to be optimistic and predict Fumui, Racheal, Carolina, because I want to believe Fumui's comeback is genuine and Racheal's a contender, and Carolina's probably still injured. I don't dare predict Alissa; I've decided that might provoke the skate gods to attack her nerves and make her implode again.

    Pairs: Kawaguchi-Smirnov, Zhang-Zhang, Volosozhar-Morozov. Yeah, I'm being really cynical here. They'd probably knock the Zhangs behind Volosozhar & Morozov too, if they dared.

    Ice Dance: Domnina-Shabablin, Khokhlova-Novitski, Davis-White. I might even be cynical enough to predict they knock Davis & White behind Capellini & Lanotte, but I think Davis-White should be able to just hold them off.

    Cat got a cold?
    Ian has been sneezing on and off all day. It's a very strange sound, a cat sneezing. We don't know quite why he has suddenly started this. If it continues on we may have to worry. Meanwhile he sneezes on my coat, my hands, in my closet, and not half an hour after having him cuddling on my lap I sneeze, though that was probably just because of my sinuses. They aren't behaving themselves right now, what with the sudden drop in temperature. I hope Ian doesn't have sinus problems; I wouldn't wish that on man or cat. No sneezes yet from Clarissa, at least.

    (I have signed one, but on top of that I live in Belgium, which does assume consent. For the record, and I know I've told tons of people but I'm pretty sure they've forgotten, after medical science has taken what it needs, I'd like the rest buried in the ground, in a quickly-decaying coffin. You can bury other people over me, I don't mind, just let me become wormfood; it's only fair. Also, medical science, you don't need my skeleton. I don't like the idea of having it on display. Bury it.)

    I thought for a moment that a trans-centric ficathon would be fun, but then I thought of Snakey and the thousand ways in which cisgendered writers get things wrong (apparently) and got discouraged. *sigh*

    It came from thinking of femslash pairings for Femslash-Today's porn-battle - Wanda from The Sandman: A Game of You sprung to mind, even though she's thoroughly straight (as if that ever stopped fic!), but then I figured it might not be accepted for the ficathon, because she's trans, though I've no indication that it would be. In any case the mere thought of there being dispute over it made me decide against it. Pah. Maybe I now have the expectation of transphobia even among my own queer fannish circles, in place of previous ignorant complacency. 

    Nothing stopping me from asking for Wanda pairings at the next IJ Porn-Battle, though!

    Just finished Temeraire.
    I was sort of reluctant to like it, but began to warm up when they introduced Cpt Roland, and I already liked Volly and Levitas, poor thing, and I ended up rather enjoying it. Reading Throne of Jade, now.

    The local cineplex continues to be incompetent; I got there about halfway between two shows half an hour apart and was given a ticket for the showing that had started already! I ended up watching that one since I got into the theater just as the movie was starting, which meant I missed the Star Trek trailer.*sigh*

    ( I have never been able to take the older Bond films seriously )

    Accomplishments of my (three-day!) weekend:

    - Fixed a computer (again).
    - Finished the last item on the Doctor Who commission, although I have yet to scan, put together and colour it
    - Holy crap I'm still proud of myself for that 5200+ word fic. I'm a drabbler, for goodness' sake. It even had a plot.
    - Scanned three pics and coloured one of them.
    - Sketched a moot gift pic (the only subject I still remember promising back then). Might have to start over with that one, though.
    - Days lived with a completely healthy diet and an acceptable amount of exercice: 3 and a half. Score! 

    I had many failures as well, but best not dwell on them. It's very gratifying to see to-do notes drop off the list, though.

    Anybody want to beta a 5000+ word I Spy (the TV series) fic? It's not exactly slash though it meant to be and, as previously mentioned, crosses over with lesbian pulp, but you don't have to know the ladies to read the fic. It also needs a better name than "Scotty and Kelly in an adventure with lesbians".

    I wrote an Aubreyad fic recently, and it turned into a Northanger Abbey crossover; now I'm writing an I Spy fic (a commission long overdue), and it's turning into a crossover with Another Kind of Love.

    ...Why is it always something obscure I need to randomly cross things over with?

    (Okay, so no Austen is obscure - but Northanger Abbey is hardly Pride and Prejudice.)

    So, I'm back to going to the gym...
    ...feel so tired afterwards I don't feel like doing anything at all. Suspecting I'm doing something wrong.

    Question: What would be an easy, tactful way of hinting at acceptable Christmas presents? If I go to people and say, this is what I'd like, it's like telling them to get a present. Ehh.
